THE MASSIVE INCREASE IN STREET CHILDREN IN THE GROWING CITIES

The growing cities like Dar-es-Salaam, Mwanza and various cities face a great problem of the massive increase of  the so know as street children in the city centres like posta, kariakoo and other places. The street children are all those children who are living difficult situation after been separated by their parent from various reasons so they tend to run away from their homes.

The increase number of street children in the growing cities has been a problem and a burden to the government and people in Dar-es-Salaam as they have to give a monetary support to these people. It has been a tendency to these children of asking for money for the people in buses mostly when the buses stop in the traffic lights and sometimes when the traffic jams occur in the main roads; this has been a chaos to the people.

In actual fact; the increase of the street children is resulted by family separation, divorce, abandoning the children, death of the parents, tendency of children to move to town and other reasons resulting on this; the great cause of this is the
economic problem facing various families and the society at large so tends to children move to towns at least to look for better life which proves them wrong so they end up in the street.

Effects of having street children in the growing cities like Dar-es-Salaam economically, socially and spheres of life could be as follows;-
Street children lead to increase  social evils in various streets where they are such as theft, prostitution, and other social unrests, because these children do not have any source of income so they tend to engage in such evils to have something that will make them access in their life.

The national faces a great loss of disciplined labor, uneducated human resource as they get no time to embark in the education life so they luck a remarkable background in having the good morals. These children become of less important to the government and the families since this miss what has to them in that way. Some would have been expected to be doctor, soldiers and being useful in any way to the nation.

Being a national problem the government has solve this as it give bad view national wise, is has to control the situation by reducing hardships in the villages through the provision employment to people on which can be helpful to such children, employment chances stimulate the living standard of people and by this will not attract children from moving to the towns.

The parents have to play their part by taking care of the children because a great number of their increase in street is resulted by the failure of the parents to handle them with much care, supply them with the basic needs such as food, cloth and even educational needs and some are forced to have the early marriage.

Thus; children end up at running from the cruel treatment from these families the education has to be given basically to the people with the tendency of damping their children as they fail to give them what are needed as the parent such actions are against the human rights; the law has to take more steps on such people. By this will help to reduce the calamity of the increase in the street
children and reduce the social evils that are done to the people such prostitution and hooliganism among the youth.

The society must understand that this is a social calamity and each person has to have a full cooperation aiming at eradicating this problem, together we can fight on the matter; let each of us not being a source of increasing the street children by any reason rather than reducing them.
