Traffic jam is a
serious detrimental to the Dar es Salaam business undertakings, a disappointing
chaos nearly from 2007 to date, the government has been investing in the
expansion of city roads to make sure the problem is eradicated.
Among the problems facing the Dar-es-Salaam city and
other places is bad planning and lack of adherents to what plans entail when
they have been well laid out. Being a commercial capital of Tanzania of, most
traders and farmers the targeted market is in Dar es Salaam for their goods and
crops.
It is obvious in various growing cities to have a
number of chaoses which can happen endlessly with the given area where people
live, mostly resulted by the increase population due to the urbanization which
takes place in various growing and large cities.
Among the problems facing such
cities like Dar-es-Salaam area the endless traffic jam in different places
especial in the main roads and even in the city center; for the city like
Dar-es-Salaam having long traffic jams is not a surprising issue as it is a
normal thing.
A traffic jam in some of the roads.
There a number of reasons on the source of the
problem depending on the place though they can vary but the common ones are;
The increase in earning and better economic status
of people has great effect on transport sector; this gives the purchasing power
and so buying a car is not a matter of discussion because money talks, so the
outcome is high rate of purchased cars leading increase of locomotives while
still the transporting networking is still the same. Finally traffic jams are
resulted with in such large cities which become a problem to the people using
the private and even the public transport face the same catastrophe.
The limited infrastructure which was built during
the colonial era to date is a problem resulting too long and endless jams, the
increase of the population causes to increase in the uses on the roads which do
not correspond to the infrastructure available. The number of cars available
does not much with what the transporting network, this results to a great
problem to the users of such roads.
Traffic jams have serious consequences on the
economic sector in terms of business operations, vehicle operation costs, time
and public health, effects in relations, loss of income, decline in education
performance, effects in other sectors.
On the above problems and the reasons for the
present traffic jams the government needs to play a great role to end it
completely because we believe nothing is impossible, so among the solutions to
be done should be expansion of the present roads, rehabilitation of traffic
light and more strictness on the part of the police in checking wayward
drivers.
The government has to control the much use of private
car by having the public vehicles such as high speed buses electrical trains or
railway system, by increasing the parking fee while the public vehicles are
already in the system shall eradicate the current problem.
Apart from that the
citizens have the moment of controlling this by handling the transporting
networking which are available and still in the process of being built.
The rehabilitation of the old railway system left by
colonialist has to be charged depending on the two days situation.
The government is planning city trains that will be
from Ubungo to city center, flyover and bus rapid transit infrastructures. By
this the traffic jam is nearly to be vanished and for real people basically who
are living in the growing areas will find life good on their side and live
comfortable.
